A low French modernist chair with a solid walnut frame, made in the 1950s.
The seat and the slightly reclining back are upholstered in brown faux leather, finished with small round nails along the edges. The real eye-catcher is the architectural wooden base: two solid side panels carry the seat, and the square block legs run up past the seat at the front and the back, so the frame stays visible on all sides. The warm walnut tone works beautifully with the brown upholstery, and the clean lines give the chair a strong, sculptural presence typical of French design of that period.
With its low seat height of 37 cm, this is a comfortable accent chair for a living room, a bedroom, a reading corner or a hallway, and a striking piece on its own.
There are creases and wear on the faux leather upholstery, and the webbing under the seat sags a little.
