Industrial Oak Workbench with Exceptional Patina, Belgium ca. 1850
Prijs op aanvraag
A powerful survivor of 19th‑century Belgian craftsmanship, this rustic oak workbench, dating to around 1850. This table embodies the honest utility, tactile history, and industrial character of early workshop furniture. Built for daily labor rather than ornament, it now stands as a sculptural testament to the beauty of wear, use, and time.
The wooden top, marked by generations of tools, cuts, stains, and natural irregularities, has developed a patina that only a century and a half of service can produce. Its surface reads like a working archive: softened edges, deepened tones, and a rich interplay of textures that speak to the hands that shaped, repaired, and created upon it. The sturdy legs and stretcher base provide a grounded, architectural presence, while the raised edge at one end hints at its original function in a craftsman’s atelier.
Constructed in solid wood with traditional joinery, the bench reflects the pragmatic ingenuity of 19th‑century Belgian workshops, where furniture was built to endure and aesthetics emerged naturally from use. Today, its raw authenticity makes it a compelling piece for interiors that embrace industrial, rustic, or wabi‑sabi sensibilities.
Whether used as a console, display table, kitchen island, or left as a sculptural object in its own right, this antique workbench offers a rare blend of material honesty, historical depth, and decorative impact.

It combines architectural clarity with sculptural warmth; hallmarks of the nation’s distinctive contribution to the movement. Modernist Art Deco Flower Stand, Attr. to André Groult, France 1925
Prijs op aanvraag
An elegant and rare example of early French modernism, this 1925 flower stand, attributed to the celebrated designer André Groult. It embodies the refined, forward‑looking spirit that defined the decorative arts in France during the interwar years. With its striking combination of black lacquered structure and softly coloured green shelves, the piece captures the delicate balance between tradition and innovation that made Groult one of the most influential figures of the Art Deco movement.
The stand’s architectural silhouette is both sculptural and functional: a rhythmic interplay of vertical and horizontal elements, softened by gentle curves and a sense of poised asymmetry. The black lacquered frame provides a dramatic, glossy backdrop for the pale green shelves, whose subtle hue introduces a note of freshness and modernity. The result is a composition that feels at once refined, playful, and unmistakably Parisian.
André Groult (1884–1966) was a master of luxurious simplicity. Known for his organic forms, sumptuous materials, and meticulous craftsmanship, he helped define the aesthetic of the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in 1925. His celebrated “Chambre de Madame,” with its pink‑and‑grey palette and curving biomorphic furniture, remains one of the icons of the era. Groult’s work is rare, highly sought after, and admired for its ability to bridge classical elegance with modernist clarity.
This flower stand reflects that same sensibility: a piece that is decorative without excess, modern without austerity. Restored professionally, it presents itself today with crisp lines, luminous surfaces, and a sculptural presence that makes it as suitable for contemporary interiors as for historically inspired spaces.
A refined accent for displaying plants, ceramics, or objets d’art, this stand is a testament to the enduring creativity and craftsmanship of French Art Deco design.

Painted Wooden Farm Table with Tapered Legs, France 1800s
Prijs op aanvraag
A beautifully authentic example of rural French craftsmanship, this 19th‑century farm table captures the understated elegance and practical ingenuity that defined provincial furniture of the period. Built from solid wood and shaped entirely by hand, it carries the quiet authority of an object made for daily use yet preserved with remarkable integrity.
The table features a long rectangular top with softened edges, supported by gracefully tapered legs; a detail that distinguishes it from heavier, more rustic farmhouse forms. This tapering gives the piece a lightness and refinement while maintaining the sturdiness expected of 19th‑century work tables. Two drawers, fitted with simple knobs, offer functional storage and speak to the table’s original role in a busy household or workshop.
The surface bears a richly developed patina: warm tones, visible grain, and age‑earned marks that reveal decades of use. This natural wear is central to the French Provincial aesthetic, where authenticity and lived character are valued over perfection. The drawers glide with the satisfying irregularity of hand‑cut joinery, and the wood’s texture reflects both its age and its enduring strength.
Despite its rural origins, the table’s proportions and simplicity make it highly adaptable today. It works beautifully as: a kitchen or dining table with rustic charm, a writing or console table in a study or hallway, a sculptural anchor in a minimalist or modern interior or as a display surface for ceramics, books, or art. Its presence is warm, grounded, and quietly sophisticated.
Farm tables from the early to mid 19th century are increasingly sought after for their authenticity and ability to harmonize with both traditional and contemporary design. This example, with its tapered legs, functional drawers, and beautifully aged surface, is a particularly evocative piece; an object that carries the spirit of rural France into the present.

Amsterdam School beech wooden Side Table, The Netherlands 1920s
Prijs op aanvraag
This 1920s Amsterdam School beech side table embodies the sculptural boldness and expressive craftsmanship that defined the Dutch avant‑garde movement at the beginning of the 20th century. Its architectural presence, carved geometry, and warm beechwood construction reflect a design philosophy that merged artistry with functionality, treating furniture as a form of applied sculpture rather than a purely utilitarian object.
The table’s structure is shaped from solid beech, a wood favored by Amsterdam School designers for its strength, fine grain, and ability to hold crisp, sculptural lines. The warm, honey‑toned surface has developed a soft patina over a century of use, enhancing the interplay of light and shadow across its carved edges and rounded forms. The proportions are compact yet assertive, with a base that feels grounded and rhythmic—hallmarks of the movement’s fascination with mass, volume, and expressive silhouettes.
Emerging in the early 1900s, the Amsterdam School blended Expressionism with craftsmanship, producing furniture that was richly detailed, often monumental, and deeply rooted in the ideals of Gesamtkunstwerk—the “total work of art.” This side table reflects that ethos through its sculptural legs, carefully joined construction, and the sense that every curve and angle was intentionally shaped to contribute to the whole. Even in a small piece, the movement’s characteristic drama and artistry are unmistakable.
Despite its artistic origins, the table remains highly functional. Its compact top makes it ideal as a side table, plant stand, or accent piece in living rooms, hallways, or reading corners. The expressive beechwood frame introduces warmth and character to both modern and eclectic interiors, while its historical roots make it a compelling addition to collections of early 20th‑century European design.

Hewn from solid oak that has matured into a deep, resonant patina, the table carries the unmistakable weight and character of early Spanish domestic architecture—robust, tactile, and richly expressive.
The façade is dominated by intricately carved drawer fronts, each adorned with geometric motifs and a central raised oval that reflects the regional carving traditions of Castile and Aragon. These patterns, both rhythmic and symbolic, were hallmarks of Spanish woodworking in the 1700s, where artisans blended Moorish influences with emerging Baroque sensibilities. The drawers retain their original, time‑softened surfaces, revealing centuries of use and the quiet dignity of an object that has served generations.
Sturdy square legs, connected by low stretchers, give the table a grounded, architectural stance. Hammered Bronze Table by Luciano Frigerio for Frigerio di Desio, Italy ca. 1970

A striking example of Italian mid-century design, this 1970s table by Luciano Frigerio showcases the sculptural elegance and refined materiality for which the designer is celebrated. The piece features a hammered bronze structure, meticulously crafted with Frigerio’s signature textural richness. The rhythmic, hand-worked surface gives the bronze an architectural presence, catching the light in subtle, dynamic ways.
The base supports a sleek glass top, creating a sophisticated contrast between transparency and the warm, sculptural depth of the bronze. This interplay of materials highlights the designer’s mastery of metalwork and his ability to blend brutalist influences with refined modernist sensibilities.
Both functional and artistic, the table serves beautifully as a centerpiece in a living room, entryway, or gallery-like interior. A collectible work from one of Italy’s most distinctive mid-century creators.
Luciano Frigerio was an Italian designer and composer born in Desio, Italy. His father, Giovanni, established a small cabinet-making workshop in 1889, where Frigerio’s passion for craftsmanship took root. After completing his studies in accounting at the Pio XI College, Frigerio cultivated two lifelong passions: furniture design and music composition. In the 1960s, Frigerio transformed his family’s small workshop into a renowned company, Frigerio di Desio, establishing a global reputation. He drew inspiration from Italian design masters such as Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, and Carlo De Carli. Frigerio’s most recognised contribution was his "Mobili Scultura" (Furniture Sculpture) and "Letti Scultura" (Sculpted Beds), which fused materials like solid wood and bronze, creating unique and artistic furniture removed from the mass-produced items of the time.In 1973, Frigerio was awarded the prestigious title of Commendatore della Repubblica Italiana and later, in 1989, he was named Cavaliere dell'Ordine Equestre del Santo Sepolcro di Gerusalemme. His work was exhibited in prominent Italian art galleries and international furniture fairs.

A rare and atmospheric survivor of the Spanish Golden Age, this 17th‑century oak side or console table embodies the rustic nobility and hand‑wrought character that define Iberian furniture of the period. Its presence is powerful yet understated, shaped by thick planks of solid oak, richly aged surfaces, and the unmistakable marks of centuries of use. The table’s proportions are balanced and architectural, with turned legs connected by stretchers that give the piece both stability and sculptural rhythm. Across the front, the drawers display deeply carved geometric decoration, an iconic feature of early Spanish cabinetry, paired with original iron keyhole escutcheons that speak to the table’s long domestic life.
The wood has developed a beautiful, time‑softened patina, a surface that glows with warm tones and carries the tactile history of generations. Subtle irregularities, softened edges, and the natural sheen of aged oak give the table a depth and authenticity impossible to replicate. Old traces of woodworm are visible, as is typical for furniture of this age, yet these are long inactive and now simply part of the table’s historical narrative.
This piece reflects the essence of 17th‑century Spanish craftsmanship: robust construction, honest materials, and ornament rooted in geometry rather than excess. It would have served as a working table in a well‑appointed household, used for writing, storage, or daily tasks, and its enduring solidity is a testament to the skill of its maker.
Today, the table functions beautifully as a side table, console, or entry piece, bringing with it a sense of depth, history, and rustic refinement. Its sculptural legs, carved drawers, and richly patinated oak allow it to anchor both traditional and contemporary interiors with quiet authority. This is a table that does not merely decorate a space; it enriches it with centuries of lived experience.

Art Nouveau Side Table in Walnut and Marble, France ca. 1915
Prijs op aanvraag
A graceful expression of early 20th‑century French design, this 1915 Art Nouveau side table unites the warmth of walnut with the cool refinement of marble in a form that feels both sculptural and intimate. Its silhouette, gently tapering and subtly organic, reflects the movement’s devotion to nature‑inspired lines and the belief that functional objects should also carry an artistic presence.
The walnut frame is shaped with the fluidity characteristic of the Art Nouveau period, its curves soft and continuous, as though grown rather than constructed. Carved details at the ends of the top frame introduce a touch of botanical ornament, enhancing the table’s sense of movement without overwhelming its clarity. The wood has developed a mellow, glowing patina over more than a century, deepening the contrast between the carved motifs and the smooth expanses of grain.
Set within the wooden surround, the marble top adds a refined counterpoint. Its veining introduces a natural pattern that harmonizes with the table’s organic lines, while its polished surface brings a quiet luminosity. Below, a lower shelf mirrors the top’s elegant shape, creating a balanced composition and offering additional display space.
This table embodies the spirit of French Art Nouveau at a moment when craftsmanship and artistry were inseparable. It would have been placed in a salon or boudoir, serving as a surface for a lamp, a vase of flowers, or treasured objects. The piece stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of Art Nouveau design: expressive yet restrained, decorative yet functional, and always rooted in the beauty of natural materials. Pair of Gilt Wooden Pedestals with Plaster Decoration, France 19th Century
Prijs op aanvraag
A refined example of 19th‑century French decorative craftsmanship, this pair of gilt wooden pedestals combine the lightness of carved wood with the sculptural richness of applied plaster ornament. Its form draws on classical architectural vocabulary, echoing the elegance of Corinthian and composite columns while translating those motifs into a domestic scale suited for salons, entry halls, and curated interiors of the period. The result is a piece that balances grandeur with intimacy, decorative flourish with functional purpose.
The pedestal’s wooden core provides structure and warmth, while the plaster detailing allows for crisp, deeply modelled ornament; acanthus leaves, fluting, and scrolling motifs that catch the light beautifully beneath the gold finish. The gilding, mellowed by time, has developed a soft, atmospheric sheen that enhances the relief work and gives the piece a sense of age and authenticity. This gentle wear is part of its charm, revealing the hand‑applied nature of the finish and the long life the pedestal has lived in French interiors.
Such pedestals were essential elements in 19th‑century decorative schemes, used to elevate sculptures, busts, vases, or floral arrangements. They served not only as supports but as sculptural objects in their own right, contributing rhythm and verticality to a room. This example retains that presence: slender yet substantial, ornate yet balanced, capable of standing alone as a decorative accent or functioning as a display base for art or objects.
In contemporary settings, the pedestals bring a touch of historical glamour and architectural texture. Its gold coloration introduces warmth and luminosity, while the interplay of wood and plaster speaks to the artisanal traditions of 19th‑century France. Whether placed in a hallway, living room, or gallery‑style interior, they offer both visual impact and a tangible connection to the decorative arts of the past.

Art Deco Side Table by Josef Hoffmann for J. & J. Kohn, Vienna ca. 1890
Prijs op aanvraag
This rare Art Deco precursor side table designed by Josef Hoffmann for J. & J. Kohn around 1890 represents an important moment in the evolution of Viennese modernism. Created during the transitional years when Hoffmann was beginning to articulate the principles that would later define the Wiener Werkstätte, the table blends late‑19th‑century craftsmanship with the geometric clarity and functional elegance that became his signature. Its compact circular form, supported by four vertical legs and a lower tier, reflects Hoffmann’s early interest in pure, architectural volumes and the disciplined use of ornament.
The table is crafted in richly finished wood, its dark, polished surface emphasizing the refined grain and the precision of its construction. The two‑tier structure offers both visual balance and practical utility, while the spherical accents placed between the legs and the lower shelf introduce a subtle sculptural rhythm. These details echo the decorative restraint Hoffmann championed; ornament reduced to essential, harmonious forms. The proportions are carefully considered, giving the piece a quiet authority despite its modest scale.
By 1890, J. & J. Kohn had already established itself as one of Europe’s most innovative furniture manufacturers, known for its collaborations with leading designers and its mastery of bentwood techniques. Hoffmann’s early work for the firm marks a pivotal chapter in the development of Viennese design, bridging the ornate historicism of the 19th century with the emerging modernist ideals that would soon reshape European interiors. This table embodies that shift: elegant yet disciplined, decorative yet functional, rooted in tradition yet unmistakably forward‑looking.
Today, the table’s sculptural simplicity and refined detailing make it a versatile accent in both modern and eclectic spaces. Its circular silhouette softens angular interiors, while the dark wood finish adds warmth and depth. Whether used as a side table, display stand, or intimate centerpiece, it brings a touch of Viennese sophistication and historical resonance to any room. Collectors of early modern design will appreciate its rarity, craftsmanship, and connection to one of the most influential designers of the 20th century.

A striking pair of 18th‑century French pedestals originating from a church interior, crafted with the sculptural presence and devotional character typical of ecclesiastical furnishings of the period. These pieces combine architectural elegance with the warm patina of centuries‑old wood, offering both historical depth and decorative impact.
Each pedestal features a turned central column with a rounded, baluster‑like form rising to a flat display top; ideal for supporting religious sculptures, candles, or liturgical objects. The tripod bases, with their gracefully curved legs, provide stability while adding a sense of movement and refinement. The wood shows a deep, aged tone that reflects generations of use within a sacred setting.
As expected from pieces of this age, the pedestals show a few old restorations, carried out long ago and now part of their historical narrative. These subtle interventions preserve structural integrity without diminishing the authenticity or charm of the original craftsmanship. The surface patina, wear, and gentle irregularities all contribute to their antique character.
In 18th‑century France, pedestals like these were commonly found in churches, chapels, and sacristies, where they served both functional and symbolic roles. Their forms were designed to elevate devotional objects, drawing the eye upward and reinforcing the spiritual hierarchy of the space. Today, they stand as evocative remnants of that liturgical world.
These pedestals make exceptional statement pieces in modern interiors. Their sculptural silhouettes and rich patina lend themselves beautifully to displaying art, plants, or decorative objects. Whether placed symmetrically in an entryway or used individually in different rooms, they bring a sense of history, warmth, and quiet grandeur.

Prijs op aanvraag
Elegant French Art Deco side table dating from the 1920s, crafted in solid wood with refined architectural lines and restrained decorative detailing. The rectangular top rests above a frieze embellished with a continuous carved bead molding, lending subtle texture and sophistication to the design.
The table stands on four tapered and fluted legs, accented at the upper corners with finely carved geometric and floral motifs that reflect the decorative language of the Art Deco period. An X-shaped stretcher connects the legs, providing both stability and a striking visual element that enhances the table's balanced proportions.
Its warm wood grain and understated ornamentation make this piece highly versatile, suitable as a side table, lamp table, occasional table, or decorative accent in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Good vintage condition with normal signs of age and use. The photographs form an integral part of the description and condition report.
